Stem Care
Silicone stems can be run through the dishwasher with your silverware or washed with ISO alcohol. Glass stems can also be washed with ISO alcohol.
Underbutter
You're probably wondering what Underbutter is. Well, wonder no more! Underbutter is our version of wood conditioner, made with organic beeswax and oil. You can apply it to your vape whenever you want. We recommend warming up your piece and using a lint-free cloth such as t-shirt material to gently rub a little of the butter into the wood grain. Be careful not to get too much around the heat port or plug. If you do, no big deal - it will burn off with time.
Making Screens
We include a screen making kit with our standard vape kit so that you can replace the screens in your silicone stems. Making and seating screens takes a little practice, so don't get discouraged if you don't get it on the first try. To help you out, we have instructions and photos of each step below.
- Place a screen over the silicone mold (small cutoff of silicone tubing). Center it as best you can.
- Take the little wooden dowel and center it on the screen. Gently push the screen down through the mold. Try to keep the dowel centered and push straight through so that your screen is evenly domed.
- Continue pushing the screen all the way through the mold. This is the same way that you'll need to remove the old screen from your stem (if there is one). Because the screens are domed like this with rough edges, they only like to travel through the silicone in one direction.
- Take your newly domed screen and place it over your silicone stem. Get it nice and centered and use your dowel to carefully push it into the stem. This is where the skill comes in as you'll find it's easy to tip the screen sideways. If this happens, continue to push the screen all the way through the bottom and try again.
